Warrumbungle Community Care postpones large events for 2020

Regrettably, due to the impact of Coronavirus (COVID-19) Warrumbungle Community Care (WCC) has postponed several large events for 2020.‚Äč

“Warrumbungle Community Care holds many large events each year allowing community members to get together and celebrate different occasions,” said Warrumbungle Shire Council Mayor, Councillor Denis Todd. “This year is very different to other years, with the outbreak of COVID-19 meaning we need to rethink how we come together as communities and, in some cases, put events on hold.”

WCC provides services for the frail aged, people with a disability and their carers to assist them to continue living independently in their own homes. WCC is auspiced by Warrumbungle Shire Council and funded by Department of Health, Transport for NSW and NSW Health.

“Although the State government restrictions for COVID-19 are gradually being lifted, the nature of some WCC events means that physical distancing would be very difficult to maintain and it is in the interests of the vulnerable and high-risk community members that would be attending these events to postpone them until 2021,” said Cr Todd.

“The ‘Celebration of Togetherness’ event will go ahead in 2020 but it will be altered to abide with COVID-19 restrictions. Details are still being finalised,” said Cr Todd.

“All events will be back bigger and brighter next year. Dates for the Oz Tag Knockout Day will be determined next year, while the Community Services Expo in Coonabarabran will be held on Wednesday 10 November 2021,” Cr Todd concluded.
