EVACUATION -WHAT DO I DO

INSTRUCTIONS

The issuing of an Evacuation order will only come from Emergency Services. That is:

• NSW Police                              
• NSW SES
• VRA
• RFS
• NSW Fire & Rescue

NOTIFICATION

This can be by various means. They are:

•  Phone Message  [Mobile  and/or Landline]
•  Door Knock by Emergency Services
•  Loud speaker announcement by Police Vehicle

WHAT TO DO

1. Follow instructions and proceed to a safer place.
2. Remember that during emergencies, phones, power and transport.
3. become  vulnerable thus adding precious time to all tasks.
4. Notify authorities of vulnerable or aged residence that require.
5. assistance during emergencies. 

WHAT DO I TAKE
Depending on the urgency of the evacuation,  remember the following :

• Money / credit cards / important documents
• Bedding for one night - pillows / sleeping bags etc
• Change of cloths / footwear / toilettes
• Medication / glasses / other medical items
• Childrens special needs, nappies / baby food / comfort toys
• Mobile phones / chargers
• Food / drinks for one meal
• Pets (include method of constraint - chain/lead/cage  & remember food)

Check off from your pre prepared lists, items to take and jobs to do.

WHERE DO I GO

Evacuation centres are used when emergency services personnel direct you to relocate due to imminent danger
Evacuation centres are not to be confused with neighbour safer place

• On arrival at Evacuation Centres, volunteers will ask you to register your name and contact details. 
• Be prepared for an overnight stay. Please be patient and follow any instructions.

BUSHFIRE  - THE  LAST RESORT

NEIGHBORHOOD SAFER PLACES (NSP)
 
A Place of Last Resort.  Areas identified for people unable to leave early or defend their property  during a bush fire.
The following limitations to Neighbourhood Safer Places (NSP) should be considered within personal Bush Fire Survival Plans

• Do not cater for Pets  
• May not provide shelter from the elements, particularly flying embers     
• Do not provide meals, accommodation or  medical attention    
• May not have Emergency Services present

Survival when travelling to or gathering at the NSP is not guaranteed.
Identify these areas on the list in your area and look for the signs.
