Access to Information

Your right to access information held by Warrumbungle Shire Council is governed by the Government Information (Public Access) Act 2009 (GIPA).  The GIPA Act began on 1 July 2010, replacing the Freedom of Information Act 1989 and Section 12 of the Local Government Act 1993. The GIPA Act can be found here.

The GIPA Act creates rights to information that are designed to meet the community’s expectations of more open and transparent government. This means that information will generally be released unless there is an overriding public interest against disclosure.

This page provides information on how the community can access information from Council.

GIPA Disclosure Log

Certain information about these applications must be published in Council's Disclosure Log, including:

• the date the application was decided
• a description of the information which was provided in response to the application
• a statement as to whether Council intends to make the information available to other members of the public, and
• how this information can be accessed

Clause 80(m) of the GIPA Act provides a right of review of a decision to include information in the Disclosure Log.  Personal information will not be included in the Disclosure Log.  The Disclosure Log will be updated as information is released under access applications.  Click here to access the Disclosure Log.
