In accordance with the Local Government Act 1993 (NSW) the Mayoral elections were conducted at the Ordinary Council meeting held in Coonabarabran Council Chambers on Thursday, 17 September 2020.

The position of Mayor was not contested with Councillor Doolan being elected.

Born and raised in the Warrumbungle region, Ambrose’s foray in Primary Industry has also expanded to importing and retailing Direct Drill Air Seeders from Canada since 2004. Their achievements in business have recently been recognised as winners in the NSW Royal Agricultural Society Paddock to Plate Competition. Ambrose has held a number of positions in the community, including equestrian and Rugby Clubs in the Coonabarabran district, and as part of the board for Cooinda, a not for profit Aged Care Facility, and the St Lawrence Catholic Parish Church Finance committee. In his spare time, Ambrose enjoys a round of golf, all things equestrian and rugby.

Newly elected Mayor Councillor Ambrose Doolan proceeded to thank Councillor Denis Todd for his last 2 years as Mayor of Warrumbungle Shire Council.

The proceedings continued with position of Deputy Mayor contested by Councillors Shinton and Iannuzzi. Councillor Iannuzzi was elected with the support of five (5) councillors.

Aniello Iannuzzi moved to Coonabarabran in 1997, to establish the Warrumbungle Medical Centre with his wife, Dr Eve Tsironis. He is a Visiting Medical Officer at Coonabarabran District Hospital and is a current director of the Australian Doctors Fund. Aniello sits on a number of advisory committees for local and federal health departments and is actively involved in medical education. Aniello is also a vigneron and writer.
