Mullaley Recreation Ground upgrades

The Mullaley Recreation Ground is set to undergo a major improvement over the coming year with the building of new amenities.

Funding has been successfully obtained through the NSW Government Drought Stimulus Package for the construction of a new multipurpose building at Mullaley Recreation Ground.

“This funding for Mullaley Recreation Ground is wonderful news for the community as these grounds are a community hub for a wide range of events including Mullaley Gymkhana and Campdraft, Horsemanship and campdraft training days, Mullaley Public School P&C fundraising days and cricket matches,” said Warrumbungle Shire Council Mayor Councillor Denis Todd. “These upgrades will benefit the local community greatly now and for the future generations.”

“The $215,000 worth of funding will see a new multipurpose building which will include toilets and shower facilities as well as a disabled toilet/shower and parents’ room. The new building will also have a food preparation and serving area and an office/storage room. In-kind contributions have been committed by the community and will contribute to the success of this project,” Cr Todd explained.

Before building commences the old canteen and toilet block will be demolished to make way for this new multipurpose building.

“Once the new multipurpose building is completed the venue will be utilised by the local fire brigade for training days and meetings, the local school for larger P & C fundraising events and to host inter-school sporting events, as well as all of the events which are regularly held at these grounds,” said Cr Todd.

“This project will be managed by Council with the help of the Mullaley Recreation Ground Volunteer committee,” concluded Cr Todd.
