The Committee has spent the last 6 months providing advice to Council and to the design consultant on features required in the new amenities building.

“The existing building at Robertson Oval will be demolished to make way for a modern facility. It will include changing rooms for players and for the referee as well as seven (7) toilets, a verandah and a BBQ area and a new three (3) bay equipment storage shed,” Cr Doolan explained. “The two (2) existing toilets will stay in place to cater for those big event days.”

New Sports Amenities for Robertson Oval, Dunedoo

In very welcome news, Warrumbungle Shire Council is set to receive $1.3M in funding to build a new sports amenity building for Robertson Oval, Dunedoo.

“This is terrific news for the Dunedoo community” said Warrumbungle Shire Council Mayor, Councillor Denis Todd. “Council has been working with the local community for some time now to develop the concept for the new amenities building and it is great that the Federal Government is now providing us with the financial capacity to do this.”

“The existing sports building at Robertson Oval in Dunedoo was constructed in the early 1970’s. As a structure the building has now reached a point where it is costly to maintain and it is not meeting modern expectations, especially in relation to toilets, change rooms, canteen and equipment storage. Despite a regime of maintenance works being undertaken on an annual basis a complete replacement of the building is required as the masonry building is cracked in many places due to structural failure in the foundations” said Cr Todd.

“Robertson Oval is the only sporting oval in town of Dunedoo. The oval enables a range of events and activities to take place such as sporting events, health and well-being programs, local and regional school events.”

The new regional sports and recreation building project at the Robertson Oval complex is expected to cost $1.4m and will provide;

• Modern toilet facilities
• Two (2) change rooms to cater for home team and away team competitors
• Multipurpose area including gym area
• Canteen/bar
• Referees change room
• Undercover spectator viewing area
• Outdoor undercover barbeque area
• A three-bay maintenance depot building.

“We appreciate the efforts of the Federal Government for providing this funding and thank Mark Coulton for his efforts in gaining the much needed funds. The project is being funded through the Building Better Regions Fund,” said Cr Todd.

“We will now set our sights on building a modern facility that will attract regional sports and regional events to the town of Dunedoo,” concluded Cr Todd.
