Let’s explore our own backyard

Did you know some of the best bushwalks in NSW are right in your backyard?

Warrumbungle National Park has been voted the 4th best bushwalks in NSW by the public who voted on the NSW Government social media survey, said Warrumbungle Shire Council Mayor, Councillor Ambrose Doolan. “With school holidays just around the corner, the Spring weather providing beautiful sunny days and all the wonderful wildflowers out, now is the time to get out and about to explore the wonderful national parks in our back yard.”

The Warrumbungle National Park features over 42 kilometres of bushwalking tracks both natural and man-made, making them very accessible for everyone. With so much to see and do in the National Park it is definitely worth stopping in to the award-winning Visitor Centre in the heart of the park where you can grab a map and get some inside information on the walks.

“There’s not only amazing bushwalks to do during the day but while you are visiting why not book at one of the campgrounds for the night to take in the Dark Sky Park and stargaze the night away, it’s pretty spectacular.”

“Warrumbungle Shire is proud to be the gateway to the Warrumbungles and welcome everyone to visit the Warrumbungle Region. There is so much to explore not only in the National Park but right across the Warrumbungle Region,” Cr Doolan concluded.

The Coonabarabran Visitor Information Centre is open seven days a week and is a one stop shop for everything to see and do throughout the Warrumbungle Region, as well as a place you can pick up some unique local produce.

Pull in off the highway and check it out, the Coonabarabran Visitor Information Centre is located on the southern side of Coonabarabran on the Newell Highway.
