Building Our Warrumbungle Communities

Don’t miss the opportunity to have your say on the future direction for the communities within the Warrumbungle Shire area at the upcoming planning sessions.

“The Building our Warrumbungle Communities project gives members of the public a great opportunity to contribute to strategies which will be put in place to enhance each community,” said Warrumbungle Shire Council Mayor, Councillor Ambrose Doolan. “Building our Warrumbungle Communities is a collaboration between Rotary, Rural Resilience, the National Association for Loss and Grief (NALAG), and Council that is set to develop customised strategies to stimulate economic renewal and communities.”

“This specialised project will involve consultancy work from renowned rural community renewal expert, Peter Kenyon. Peter Kenyon has over 45 years’ experience and has worked with over 2500 small and regional town communities in 59 countries.”

“Peter will conduct planning activities with community members at Baradine, Binnaway, Coolah, Coonabarabran, Dunedoo, and Mendooran. This project is community focused, and the success of it relies on the Warrumbungle community to get involved when Peter visits your town,” said Cr Doolan.

“Interactive activities, exercises focussed on ‘first impressions’, asset mapping, opportunity identification and customised strategies will be developed to stimulate communities and economic renewal within each town,” Cr Doolan explained.

“It is essential that all sectors of the community are consulted to assist in the planning for healthy, inclusive, sustainable and enterprising towns and local economies. From farmers and business owners to youth, sporting organisations and charity organisations, I encourage everyone to be a part and contribute to the conversation,” said Cr Doolan.

The five major functions, the Community Futures Workshops, will take place as follows;

  • Dunedoo - Tuesday 11 May 2021
  • Mendooran - Wednesday 12 May 2021
  • Binnaway - Thursday 13 May 2021
  • Baradine - Monday 17 May 2021
  • Coonabarabran - Thursday 20 May 2021
