Council met with members of the Coonabarabran Sporting Complex Advisory Committee on Friday 17 March 2023 to decide on the location for the new amenities building as well as the preferred building layout.
The proposed location on the corner of No 3 Oval was discussed and it was noted that the location may require the removal of several trees, and that there are memorial plaques at the base of some of the trees. Council is reviewing the proposed position with the view that removal of trees can be avoided. If this is not the case, any trees requiring removal will be excavated and relocated to another location at the ovals. Families of the memorials will also be contacted about the proposed position.
There were 2 layout options presented and it was agreed that Option 2 is more ideal due to the size of the change rooms and amount of bench seating provided. It was noted that the kiosk had been reconfigured to face one field only now that the amenities building could not be positioned right in the centre of Oval Nos 2 and 3, however the kiosk is not big enough. Council will update Option 2 with a larger kiosk and forward to the Committee.
Council is preparing the tender documents for publishing by the end of March 2023 once the layout and location has been finalised.
