Warrumbungle Region on Sunrise

In a wonderful opportunity to feature some of the many attractions of the Warrumbungle Region, Channel 7s Sunrise weather program broadcast live near Coonabarabran and showcased several local attractions, businesses and talented people.

“This visit from Sunrise was such a great way to promote our stunning area,” said Warrumbungle Shire Council Mayor, Councillor Ambrose Doolan. “The Sunrise weather team, with host Sam Mac, is touring the NSW countryside and chose to feature the Warrumbungle Region by broadcasting from the Anglo-Australian Telescope (AAT) at Siding Spring Observatory.”

“Being part of a high-profile television show is a chance that does not come around too often. Council was very pleased to see our region get this kind of attention and to have another way to let the rest of the country know how much we have to offer,” said Cr Doolan.

“Thanks to everyone that participated in the broadcast. The group of people that featured did the region proud by demonstrating the diverse skills and talents we are lucky enough to have right here at home. From science to national parks – complete with a cute baby wallaby – to highlighting unique local music and featuring a range of local businesses, this really was a brilliant opportunity to showcase our amazing region,” explained Cr Doolan.

“Sam Mac may well have kicked off the latest food trend, pairing local award-winning products, a caramel tart from the Coonabarabran Bakery with a delicious whisky drink from Mendooran’s Black Gate Distillery.”

“As well as showing a snapshot of our local people, the setting at the AAT provided the perfect way to show Australia some of our amazing scenery in the Warrumbungles. It would be great to see travellers inspired by what they saw to come out here and see it for themselves,” said Cr Doolan.

“Thanks to Channel 7, Sam Mac and the crew from Sunrise weather for coming out here and sharing our region with all of Australia,” concluded Cr Doolan.
