Warrumbungle Community Care honoured in National Meals on Wheels Awards

On the back of their recent win of the NSW Innovation Award, Warrumbungle Community Care has been honoured in the Meals on Wheels Australia, Alison Meighan Awards.

“After winning the NSW Innovation Award earlier this month Warrumbungle Community Care were named as an honourable finalist for the Service Excellence Award under the Alison Meighan Awards Program,” said Warrumbungle Shire Council Mayor, Councillor Ambrose Doolan. “This is an amazing achievement for Warrumbungle Community Care, for an incredible local service.”

In recognition of being a finalist for the Service Excellence Award under the Alison Meighan Awards Program, Warrumbungle Community Care will receive prize money that can be used for the purchase of equipment, professional development and volunteer training or to attend the 2024 Meals on Wheels National Conference. “This prize money will really give our already wonderful service a boost to enhance the services they provide,” said Cr Doolan.

The inaugural Alison Meighan Awards aim to honour the late Alison Meighan by recognising, rewarding and highlighting the achievements of individuals and Meals on Wheels services, and the essential role they play within almost every Australian community.

The Alison Meighan Awards includes two categories: the Outstanding Contribution Award (Individual) and the Service Excellence Award (Service). The cash prizes were made possible by the generous sponsorship of Glen 20, which will fund the awards for two years.

“This latest award is well deserved recognition for the people and services, like Warrumbungle Community Care, that work tirelessly to ensure good nutrition and social support for their local communities,” Cr Doolan concluded.
