Swimming Pool 2022/23 Season

The Dunedoo and Coolah pools have opened for the 2022/23 season, while preparations for the remaining pools across the Warrumbungle Shire are nearing completion.

“Unfortunately with difficulties with the weather and attracting staff there have been delays with the opening of the public swimming pools this season” said Warrumbungle Shire Council Mayor Councillor Ambrose Doolan. “Nevertheless, it is fantastic that we have been able to open the Coolah and Dunedoo pools.”

“Coolah Pool has had the pool blankets and heaters on and is a balmy 27 degrees. Dunedoo is crystal clear and looking very inviting,” said Cr Doolan.

“The Coonabarabran swimming pool opening has also been delayed due to the unpredictable rain events causing dirty water to flow into the pool” said Cr Doolan. “Staff have taken action to try and prevent this but the use of any plant or machinery near to the pool is not an option given the ground is so saturated. Sandbagging has taken place as a means to redirect the runoff away from the pools and then the pool water can be cleaned and the chemical levels adjusted. At this stage the opening date remains unknown due to the condition of the water.”

“Pools at Baradine, Binnaway and Mendooran will be opening over the next few weeks. Those pools are being cleaned and filled, then the water will need to be balanced and tested before the pools can be opened.”

“Public swimming pools are a valuable part of community life and it will be great to see our residents and visitors enjoying the pools over summer,” Councillor Doolan concluded.

Further information will be provided on Council’s website under the swimming pool tab and Council’s facebook page.
