Speed Awareness across the Shire

To encourage speed awareness and safety a Speed Trailer has been temporarily installed on Bandulla Street, Mendooran.

“Public safety is a priority, and we've listened to community concerns about improving speeds through towns across the Warrumbungle Shire,” said Warrumbungle Shire Council Mayor, Councillor Ambrose Doolan. “This innovative speed trailer is here to make a positive impact on our streets and enhance overall safety for pedestrians and drivers alike.”

“The installation of the Speed Trailer has come following requests from locals wanting to have great road safety in the busy town.”

How does it work? The smart device displays your current speed as you approach it, giving you a gentle reminder to maintain a safe and appropriate speed within the town limits. It is a friendly nudge to help us all be more mindful and considerate while navigating our charming streets.

“Let's come together as a community to embrace this new addition and create a safer environment for everyone. Spread the word, share the news, and let's celebrate this step towards a safer Shire,” said Cr Doolan.

Council has created a schedule for further locations to address speed concerns around the Warrumbungle Shire Local Government Area, with a focus on the school zones in each town. Our next proposed location will be Narren Street, Baradine.

“Remember, it is up to each one of us to make a difference. Let's drive with care, respect our neighbours, and ensure the well-being of our community,” Cr Doolan concluded.
