Proposed Changes of Dunedoo Waste Facility opening hours

It’s time to have your say on proposed changes to increase the opening hours of the Dunedoo Waste Transfer Station.

“After reviewing the opening hours for the Dunedoo Transfer Station it is now proposed to change the opening times, with a small increase in total hours,” said Warrumbungle Shire Council Mayor, Councillor Ambrose Doolan. “The review of hours was prompted by a number of factors, including the sorting of recycling being consolidated to the Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) at Coonabarabran in 2017, and specific tasks no longer undertaken at the Dunedoo Waste Transfer Station.”

“The Dunedoo Transfer Station now provides a Container Deposit Scheme collection point that is accessed regularly by the community and surrounding areas, which was also considered in reviewing the opening hours,” said Cr Doolan.

Dunedoo Transfer Station currently opens six (6) days a week for a total of 17.5 hours. The transfer station is open for 7.5 hours on the weekend, and 10 hours during the week.

Council is considering the alteration of the Dunedoo Transfer Station opening times to being open for three (3) days per week for a total of 18 hours, instead of 17.5 hours.

The proposed new hours for the Dunedoo Transfer Station are as follows:
• Open for 8 Hours on Sunday from 8:00am– 4:30pm
(closed for a half an hour lunch break)
• Open for 2 Hours on Tuesday from 9:00am – 11:00am
• Open for 8 Hours on Thursday from 8:00am – 4:30pm
(closed for a half an hour lunch break)

“The consolidation of the hours will assist with staffing of the facility and will provide similar services and opening days to the other transfers stations across the Shire,” said Cr Doolan.

Council is inviting written submissions from the general public on this proposal. Submissions will be open until Monday 15 November 2021.

Written submissions can be submitted online under the Have Your Say tab on Council’s website.
