Pool Preparations for the 2023/24 Swimming Season

The swimming pool season is almost here, with longer days upon us and warmer temperatures just around the corner, it is time to think about getting active in your local pool.

“Preparations are being made for the swimming pools across the Shire to start opening throughout October 2023,” said Warrumbungle Shire Council Mayor, Councillor Ambrose Doolan. “Council staff have been working hard since July 2023 to complete a variety of works around all six pools to ensure they are ready for this swimming season.”

“Maintenance of buildings such as painting the kiosk in Coolah that was water damaged as well as deep cleaning of amenities across all six pools has been completed. Emptying and scrubbing pool decks, pool walls and pool floors is underway ready for each pool to be refilled with clean water and chemicals added to balance and sanitise the water. A number of pool pumps have also been serviced to ensure non-interrupted water circulation,” said Cr Doolan.

“Pool grounds at all six pools have been well maintained throughout the winter, with lawns sprayed for weeds and trees trimmed to remove any low hanging branches. Staff are continuously tidying up the grounds making sure they are in good shape for the start of the season.”

“It is not long now until the pool season commences, and season tickets can now be purchased at Council Administration Offices. Payment plans and part-season tickets are also available to make the pools accessible.”

“We are still looking for staff to be pool attendants during the season and interested persons should contact Council if they would like to take on this valuable role,” concluded Cr Doolan.
