New Australia Day 2022 Ambassadors for Warrumbungle Shire

Two new Australia Day Ambassadors for Warrumbungle Shire have been announced, as the previous Ambassadors both withdrew due to COVID-19. Yianni Johns and Shaun Christie-David will now be joining the 2022 Australia Day events and activities.

On Wednesday 26 January the Warrumbungle community is encouraged to Reflect, Respect and Celebrate our nation and our people – and especially our strong sense of community in times of adversity. Australia Day 2022 will present a particularly poignant and special opportunity to recognise the resilience of Australians and to focus on what we can achieve as a community and nation.

This year we want to unite our community and pay tribute to the Australian spirit. We’re extremely grateful our Australia Day Ambassadors, Yianni Johns and Shaun Christie-David will be joining our communities to offer inspiration and share their optimistic messages and stories. 

Australian artist and curator, Yianni Johns is proud to be an Australia Day Ambassador in 2022.Yianni Johns will be joining the Binnaway, Baradine and Coonabarabran communities for their celebrations. Shaun Christie-David, known for being co-founder of Plate it Forward, Columbo Social Eatery chef, and entrepreneur is also proud to be an Australia Day Ambassador, and will be joining Mendooran, Dunedoo and Coolah communities with their celebrations.  

Australia Day Ambassadors generously volunteer their time and share their story at hundreds of community events. Over 30 years, Ambassadors have inspired thousands of people in activities as diverse as the communities themselves, and 2022 will be no different.

Drawing inspiration from our Ambassadors, the communities throughout Warrumbungle Shire are encouraged to make a difference this Australia Day by supporting community businesses. Simple efforts such as arranging restaurant/cafe bookings or buying locally made products will boost the Australia Day spirit.

On this public holiday, it is essential as we live with COVID-19 that we plan ahead and book restaurants/cafes and adhere to the public health orders at the time.
