Mendooran Water Network Upgrades

Upgrades to improve the water reticulation network in Mendooran are well underway.

“Council’s water reticulation team has been working hard to plan and deliver two projects in Mendooran throughout the 2023/24 financial year,” said Warrumbungle Shire Council Mayor, Councillor Ambrose Doolan. “These projects are to increase the efficiency of the water supply network and minimise supply interruptions and water loss due to breakages.”

The first of the projects will see the replacement of the malfunctioning water valves spread across the township of Mendooran, however a focus point of this program will be in and around Bandulla Street.

This valve replacement program will see a decrease in water losses, improving the efficiency of the water supply system and will also allow fewer supply interruptions to local residents in the future.

The second project is the replacement of 205 metres of rising water main along Forrest Road between Manusu Bridge and Fredrick Road in Mendooran. The existing water main was prone to breakages, due to the location not being visible from the road and generally covered in long grass and significant time can pass before leaks are detected.

The replacement of the water main will minimise losses from breaks as well as minimising supply interruptions to local residents in the Manusu Drive area in the future.

“These projects are part of Council’s commitment to supply safe and secure water to customers across the local government area (LGA). Council is committed to investing into the reticulation network to continuously upgrade the network for the community,” Cr Doolan concluded.
