Mains Replacement works in Cassilis Street, Coonabarabran

The replacement of the water main in Cassilis Street, Coonabarabran will commence next week with these works set to improve the water supply system.

“Starting next week, 28 February 2022, works will begin to replace a section of water main in Coonabarabran”, said Warrumbungle Shire Council Mayor, Councillor Ambrose Doolan. “These works are expected to help reduce issues with water quality in the direct area of works while improving the general water quality in Coonabarabran.”

“Contractors engaged by Council will be replacing 200 meters of water main pipeline along Cassilis Street in Coonabarabran between the Commonwealth Bank Building and Charles Street. The water main will be replaced with PVC pipe which will be an upgrade from the previous materials,” said Cr Doolan.

“This water main pipeline was identified for replacement as part of the Capital Expenditure Program, due to its aging infrastructure and pipe placement,” Cr Doolan explained.

During the coming weeks there may be water supply interruptions to users in this area, however notice will be given to these users prior to any planned shutdowns.

Residents and businesses in the area will also see increased plant and vehicle movement while there will also be some impacts to parking arrangements on the southern side of the street. Council will aim to minimise the disturbances as best as possible

“Council appreciates the cooperation of residents and businesses throughout the duration of work,” Cr Doolan concluded.
