Bringing our Heritage into Focus

Aiming to bring our heritage into focus, residents are encouraged to share inspiration and identify potential ideas, items and structures for a proposed heritage trail.

“Council’s Heritage Advisor, Mr Peter Duggan, will be touring around the Shire in the early part of 2022, gaining information and inspiration with the aim of developing a heritage trail for each town,” said Warrumbungle Shire Council Mayor, Councillor Ambrose Doolan.  “Residents are encouraged to get in contact with Mr Duggan to share ideas about heritage trails and identify meaningful heritage items throughout their towns.”

A Heritage Trail can be a walking trail, bicycle and driving routes in around urban and rural settings, with the potential to be identified by signage and brochures explaining cultural heritage and significance.

“The introduction of Heritage Trails throughout our Shire will benefit communities through development, participation, heritage discovery and encouragement of cultural tourism,” said Cr Doolan.

Shire residents will be given advance notice of Mr Duggan’s visiting schedule and are encourage to engage with him on all thing’s heritage.

If you wish to speak to the Heritage Advisor prior to visits being conducted email Peter Duggan via pa_duggan@yahoo.com

“I know a lot of residents are passionate about local heritage across the Shire, so let’s protect, celebrate and show-off the Warrumbungle Shires diverse heritage by getting involved,” Cr Doolan concluded.
