Bore Refurbishment Project
Groundwater bores are an essential source of water for many of our communities, so keeping these bores well maintained is crucial.
“CCTV inspections were undertaken of the groundwater bores across the Warrumbungle Local Government Area (LGA), from these inspections Council has put together a program to refurbish and restore these vital water resources,” said Warrumbungle Shire Council Mayor, Councillor Ambrose Doolan. “The inspections revealed rehabilitation requirements that are essential to safeguarding our water supply.”
“The CCTV inspections uncovered various issues including bore deterioration, sediment build up, and structural concerns,” said Cr Doolan.
“Baradine Main Bore, Baradine Backup Bore and Dunedoo Backup Bore require different levels of rehabilitation works to sustainably continue to supply water to the communities of Dunedoo and Baradine for many years to come.”
“The Dunedoo Backup Bore and Baradine Main Bore will both receive maintenance works including mechanical cleaning and replacement of pumping equipment. However, the Baradine Backup Bore will need to be replaced and a new bore drilled.”
“The existing Baradine Backup Bore is still functional and will be able to be used while the new bore is being drilled, however needs to be replaced,” said Cr Doolan.
“These works will be delivered throughout the next 12 months by specialist groundwater drilling contractors. The works will be advertised via a competitive tender process,” Cr Doolan explained.
“The refurbishment of our groundwater bores is a significant step towards securing the future of our water supply. It reflects our dedication to responsible water management and our commitment to providing safe, clean water for our community,” concluded Cr Doolan.
