2021 Council Election – Nominations opening soon

Are you passionate about what happens in your local community? Take the opportunity to have an impact on your community by standing to become a councillor. 

Local government elections will be held on 4 September 2021, which will see the election of a new Warrumbungle Shire Council. Nominations to become a councillor open on 26 July 2021. 

The Warrumbungle Shire covers over 12,000km2 and is home to about 9,500 residents. The Council itself employs over 200 staff and has an annual budget of around $45million.

Being a councillor is an important role and a great opportunity to make a difference. Councillors are responsible for making significant decisions that have a far-reaching impact on their community.

“Becoming a councillor is a great opportunity to get involved in the local community”, said Warrumbungle Shire Council Mayor, Councillor Ambrose Doolan. “If you have been thinking about becoming a councillor now is the time to put your hand up to represent your local community.” 

“Communities get the best outcomes from Council when their diverse nature is represented to give a range of perspectives and experience”, said Cr Doolan.

“Nominations to stand in the local government elections close at midday on 4 August 2021, so now is the time to nominate to represent your community,” concluded Cr Doolan. 

The NSW Electoral Commission’s online nominations system, along with information on how to lodge a nomination, is available at www.elections.nsw.gov.au. Paper nomination forms are available by calling the Commission’s candidate helpdesk on 1300 022 011. Information about the role of councillors is available from www.olg.nsw.gov.au.
