John Whitehead

VALE John Whitehead – Shire Engineer for Coonabarabran Shire Council from 1966 to 1993, John led major road, drainage, bridge and town works, including access to Siding Spring Observatory. A dedicated historian and author, he contributed greatly to local knowledge. Flags will be at half-mast today at Warrumbungle Shire Office.

Footpath Project Coonabarabran

In line with Warrumbungle Shire Council's Pedestrian Access and Mobility Plan (May 2016), this project is part of the long-term development of safe and accessible pathways across the community. Council has secured funding under the Australian Government's Get NSW Active 2024/25 program for the construction of new footpaths and shared pathways.

The project focuses on delivering safe, convenient, and accessible connections to primary schools and the existing town footpath network.
