Warrumbungle Shire Council owns and operates six swimming pool facilities within the Council area at Baradine, Binnaway, Coolah, Coonabarabran, Dunedoo and Mendooran.

Swimming Club Fees

Note:

  • High Volume User: Carnivals and/or club championships and/or two hours training per week during regular opening hours with lane allocation determination by the lifeguard on duty. Unlimited after hours use when club lifeguard available
  • Mid Volume User: One carnival and/pr two hours training per week during regular opening hours with lane allocation determination by the lifeguard on duty. Unlimited after hours usewhen club lifeguard available.
  • Low Volume User: Two hours training per week during regular opening hours with lane allocation determined by the lifeguard on duty. Unlimited after hours use when club lifeguard available
  • Qualified Coaches and Private Lane Hire: During opening hours – two hour session
  • All swimming club members, must have a current season ticket
  • Not all criteria are required to meet a volume level and is at the discretion of Council Staff upon review

Daily Opening Timetable for All Pools*

For Season Ticket Holders – No Pool Attendant Available 

  •  6am to 7pm for season ticket holders during the months of Spring, Summer and Autumn.

Casual Entry – Pool Attendant Available

Spring (3 October 2026 – 30 November 2026)

  • 3pm to 6pm – Weekdays all Pools
  • 10am to 1pm & 3pm to 6pm – Saturday and Sunday all Pools

Summer (1 December 2026 – 28 February 2027)

  • 3pm to 7pm – Weekdays all Pools
  • 10am to 1pm & 3pm to 7pm – Saturday and Sunday all Pools

School Holidays

  • 10am to 1pm & 3pm to 7pm – Monday to Sunday  

Autumn (1 March 2027 – 17 April 2027)

  •  3pm to 6pm – Monday to Sunday

*Notes:

Note 1: When a Pool Attendant is not available, the pool will be closed to casual users. The pool will be accessible by groups and schools who have a user agreement with Council and also by season ticket holders who have key access.

Note 2: Opening times may vary for season ticket holders due to the availability of staff to test pool water.

Note 3: There may be periods when any of the pools are not open to the public between 6:00pm and 7:00pm, due to exclusive use by Swimming Clubs or User Groups.

Note 4: Any school that has booked time at a pool will have exclusive use of the pool. Therefore, the pool will not be open to the public if there is a school group using the pool.

Note 5: The Sunday timetable applies on Public Holidays. All pools will be closed on Christmas day.

For Season Pool Tickets, please note that upon full payment at a Council office, a receipt will be provided. This receipt must then be presented at a Warrumbungle Shire Council Town Pool to receive the Pool Season Ticket.

Public Swimming Pool Policy

Purpose
The aim of this policy is to establish clear guidelines and procedures for the management of public pools within the Shire.

Objectives of the Policy
    a) To conserve and enhance for future generations public swimming pools as items of local and cultural significance.

    b) To provide public swimming pools within the Shire that meet the needs of the general public as a learning and recreational facility.

    c) To enhance community development and social interaction by providing a facility that can be utilised by sporting and recreational / educational organisations as well as private hire.

Policy Scope
This policy introduces a Management Plan for Council owned swimming pools in the towns of; Baradine, Binnaway, Coolah, Coonabarabran, Dunedoo and Mendooran.

The Draft Management Plan includes provision for pool operations when a lifeguard is available and when a lifeguard is not available.

Background
Public swimming pools provide an important venue for many forms of water sports, fitness and other recreational activities, and are enjoyed by significant numbers within the community throughout the year and particularly in summer.

Councils have a responsibility to ensure that adequate safeguards are in place to minimise the risks that can be associated with aquatic locations under their care and control.

Policy Statement
    • To put in place a Management Plan that preserves and enhances the local, social and cultural heritage significance of these public assets.

    • To put in place a Management Plan which provides for fair and equitable access to these facilities.

    • To put in place budget allocations that will enable the safe and efficient operation of Council’s public swimming pools in accordance with public health guidelines, community expectations and legislative requirements.

    • Council recognises that there are higher risks at certain times.

Responsibilities
The staff member responsible for the day to day application of this policy is Manager Urban Services and Facilities.

Coonabarabran Swimming Pool Master Plan

The project incorporated an in-depth site analysis and site investigations, meetings with the Coonabarabran Swimming Pool Advisory Committee and their comprehensive assessment of key redevelopment of priorities, along with community and stakeholder engagement to confirm the priorities around the redevelopment of the pool.  This included a community survey to seek community priorities for the redevelopment of the pool as well.
