FORTNIGHTLY WORKS AND PROJECT UPDATES

Warrumbungle Shire Council is keeping our community informed with regular updates on works on roads and recreation and community spaces across the Shire.

Here’s what our teams and contractors are working on over the next fortnight (weather permitting):

• Baradine Rd, (Coonabarabran to Guinema Rd section) – Slashing
• Baradine Rd West, Baradine/Teridgerie – Heavy Patching
• Black Stump Way (near Saltwater Rd), Tambar Springs – Sealing
• Black Stump Way, northern end of boundary – Sealing
• Carmel Lane, Baradine – Maintenance Grading
• Coonabarabran Rd, Mendooran – Heavy Patching
• Dinby Lane, Baradine – Maintenance Grading
• Golden/Castlereagh Highways (all segments) – Patching
• McEvoy Rd, Goolhi – Resheeting
• Merryula Rd, Ulamambri – Maintenance Grading
• Mooren Rd, Neilrex – Resheeting
• Newbank Lane, Teridgerie – Maintenance Grading
• Stony Point Rd, Coonabarabran – Resheeting
• Timor Rd, Coonabarabran – Slashing
• Toorawandi Rd, Ulamambri – Maintenance Grading
• Vinegaroy Rd (all segments) – Patching  

   

  Projects

• Baradine Oval Kiosk Awning Structure and Accessible Toilet – Foundation preparations are underway

   

• Binnaway Oval Showers and Changeroom – Project with the showers and changeroom closed while works continue for the next couple months.

   

• Binnaway Oval Kiosk Awning Structure – Concrete base slab has been completed.

   

• Bowen Oval Playground, Coolah – Remains closed for the next couple months as repair works continue. New soft fall to be installed mid-January 2026.

   

• Bowen Oval Amenities Building, Coolah – Concrete base slab has been completed.

   

• Coonabarabran Footpaths – Concrete footpath works have been completed in Cassilis, Bandulla, George and Cowper Streets. Total length of path is 1.2km.

   

• Mendooran Oval Amenities Building – Installation of onsite sewage treatment system completed along with concrete slab for disability car parking.

   

• Mendooran Cemetery fence replacement project – Commences in approximately 1.5 weeks once materials arrive.

   

• State Forest Road –Bitumen sealing of the first 3.2km of the road has been completed.

• Black Stump Way (near Saltwater Rd), Tambar Springs – Shoulders
• Black Stump Way, northern end of Coolah – Patching, Slashing
• Black Stump Way, Leadville – Slashing
• Black Stump Way, southern side of Coolah – Patching
• Booloola Rd, Goolhi Area – Sealing, Heavy Patching
• Bretni Rd, Baradine – Flood Damage
• Castlereagh Highway, between Mendooran and Dunedoo – Patching
• Coonabarabran Aerodrome, Coonabarabran – Slashing
• Coonabarabran Rd, Mendooran – Heavy Patching
• Forest Rd, south of Mendooran – Sealing
• Golden/Castlereagh Highways, all segments – Patching
• Lawson Park Rd, Dunedoo – Maintenance Grading
• Mooren Rd, Neilrex – Resheeting
• Purlewaugh Rd, Coonabarabran to Premier (all segments) – Patching

Private Works - Roads

 Warrumbungle Shire Council advises that due to current Council projects and ongoing maintenance works, private work requests for patching and sealing roads will not be undertaken until the new year.

 Council kindly asks that all private work requests be lodged through the Customer Service Centre.

 Projects

Bowen Oval Playground, Coolah – Remains closed for the next couple months as repair works continue. New softfall to be ordered shortly.

Bowen Oval Amenities, Coolah – Foundation works are underway.

Baradine Oval Kiosk – Remains closed for the next couple weeks while stainless steel splashback is installed.

Binnaway Oval Showers and Changeroom – Project with the showers and changeroom closed while works continue for the next couple months.

Mendooran Cemetery fence replacement project – Commences in approximately 2 weeks once materials arrive.

Drop-In sessions for the Bowen Oval, Coolah; McMasters Park, Coolah Playground; and Milling Park Playground, Dunedoo – Grant funded projects have taken place with more community engagement to follow.

State Forest Road – This project is nearing completion. The first 3.2km of the road has been bitumen sealed, including installation of pipe culverts, guard rail and signs.

Coonabarabran Footpaths – Concrete works are completed and turf placed alongside constructed path. Signs and installation of tactiles remaining.

Coolah Depot Shed Replacement – This project is completed.

Mendooran Oval Amenities – This project is 70% complete. Remaining works include connection of power, water and installation of onsite wastewater treatment system.
