ROAD WORKS UPDATE ACROSS THE REGION 

Crews are out this week improving and repairing several key routes. Please drive with care around work zones and allow extra travel time.

PROJECT UPDATES

Here's what's happening across our local parks, playgrounds and recreation spaces.

Baradine

Baradine Oval Kiosk Awning Structure and Accessible Toilet: Awning completed and accessible toilet 60% completed.  Awaiting S68 approval for toilet.

Coolah

Bowen Oval Playground: Still closed while repairs continue. New soft fall is being installed, with fence repairs and shaded seating to follow before reopening.

Bowen Oval Recreation and Amenities Upgrade: The project is in the final stage of community engagement underway. DA to be lodged soon, with procurement to follow. 

Bowen Oval New Amenities Building: Framing and roof installation have been completed.

Coolah Aerodrome: Fence repairs have commenced with the old fence being removed this week. The new fence will be installed once the materials have been received.

McMasters Park Playground: The second round of community consultation is scheduled for 25 February 2026.

Coonabarabran

Skate Park Shade Sails: The remaining sail was damaged beyond repair during recent storms. Two replacements have been ordered and will be installed once received.

No. 2 Oval Amenities and Kiosk Renewal: DA has been lodged and the Request for Tenders has been issued.

Native Grove Cemetery: Construction by Contractor of another row of burial plots is scheduled to commence 16 February.

Dunedoo

Milling Park Playground: The second round of community consultation is scheduled for 25 February 2026.

Robertson Oval Recreation Upgrade: Community engagement will be commencing shortly.

Mendooran

Mendooran Oval Amenities: Awaiting power connection to the site.

Neible Road Causeway: Concrete slab and precast box culvert units installed.  Project 60% completed.

FORTNIGHTLY WORKS AND PROJECT UPDATES

Warrumbungle Shire Council is keeping our community informed with regular updates on works on roads and recreation and community spaces across the Shire.

Here’s what our teams and contractors are working on over the next fortnight (weather permitting):

  • Baradine Rd, (Coonabarabran to Guinema Rd section) – Slashing
  • Baradine Rd West, Baradine/Teridgerie – Heavy Patching
  • Black Stump Way (near Saltwater Rd), Tambar Springs – Sealing
  • Black Stump Way, northern end of boundary – Sealing
  • Carmel Lane, Baradine – Maintenance Grading
  • Coonabarabran Rd, Mendooran – Heavy Patching
  • Dinby Lane, Baradine – Maintenance Grading
  • Golden/Castlereagh Highways (all segments) – Patching
  • McEvoy Rd, Goolhi – Resheeting
  • Merryula Rd, Ulamambri – Maintenance Grading
  • Mooren Rd, Neilrex – Resheeting
  • Newbank Lane, Teridgerie – Maintenance Grading
  • Stony Point Rd, Coonabarabran – Resheeting
  • Timor Rd, Coonabarabran – Slashing
  • Toorawandi Rd, Ulamambri – Maintenance Grading

    Projects

  • Baradine Oval Kiosk Awning Structure and Accessible Toilet – Foundation preparations are underway

     

  • Binnaway Oval Showers and Changeroom – Project with the showers and changeroom closed while works continue for the next couple months.

     

  • Binnaway Oval Kiosk Awning Structure – Concrete base slab has been completed.

     

  • Bowen Oval Playground, Coolah – Remains closed for the next couple months as repair works continue. New soft fall to be installed mid-January 2026.

     

  • Bowen Oval Amenities Building, Coolah – Concrete base slab has been completed.

     

  • Coonabarabran Footpaths – Concrete footpath works have been completed in Cassilis, Bandulla, George and Cowper Streets. Total length of path is 1.2km.

     

  • Mendooran Oval Amenities Building – Installation of onsite sewage treatment system completed along with concrete slab for disability car parking.

     

  • Mendooran Cemetery fence replacement project – Commences in approximately 1.5 weeks once materials arrive.

     

  • State Forest Road –Bitumen sealing of the first 3.2km of the road has been completed.
