Section 355 Committees are made up of community volunteers who assist in the management of Council-owned facilities. These Committees operate as an extension of Council and play an important role in ensuring community assets are well maintained, accessible, and financially sustainable.
Key responsibilities include:
- Assessing applications for facility use
- Conducting pre and post hire inspections
- Managing bookings, payments, and bonds
- Overseeing Committee finances
- Undertaking minor maintenance or reporting issues to Council
Volunteers may also perform minor maintenance such as changing a tap washer or a light globe; or report maintenance needs to Council through Customer Service.
The short-term goal is to increase community involvement in the management and use of community facilities.
The medium to long term goal is to enable hall management committees to generate sufficient income to cover facility running costs and fund upgrades to equipment such as chairs, tables, kitchen appliances.
