Mayor Kathryn Rindfleish and Deputy Mayor Jason Newton re-elected

Warrumbungle Shire Council has confirmed its leadership team for the remainder of the current Council term following the mayoral election held at the September Ordinary Council Meeting on Thursday, 17 September 2026. 

Councillor Kathryn Rindfleish was re-elected unopposed as Mayor of Warrumbungle Shire Council, while Councillor Jason Newton was re-elected unopposed as Deputy Mayor. 

Mayor Rindfleish and Deputy Mayor Newton will continue in their leadership roles for the remaining two years of the current Council term. 

Mayor Rindfleish said she was honoured to continue serving the Warrumbungle Shire community and thanked her fellow Councillors for their support. 

“The past two years have seen Council work through a range of opportunities and challenges while continuing to deliver essential services, infrastructure projects and advocacy on behalf of our residents,” Mayor Rindfleish said. 

“I look forward to working alongside my fellow Councillors, Deputy Mayor Jason Newton, General Manager Lindsay Mason and Council staff over the next two years as we continue to focus on delivering positive outcomes for our communities.” 

Deputy Mayor Newton said he was pleased to continue in the role and looked forward to supporting the Mayor and Council. 

“It is an honour to once again serve as Deputy Mayor and continue working with Councillors, staff and communities across the Warrumbungle Shire,” Deputy Mayor Newton said. 

“Council has important work ahead, and I look forward to contributing to projects and initiatives that support the long-term future of our towns and villages.” 

General Manager Lindsay Mason congratulated Mayor Rindfleish and Deputy Mayor Newton on their re-election. 

“On behalf of Council staff, I congratulate Mayor Rindfleish and Deputy Mayor Newton and look forward to continuing to work closely with them as we deliver services, projects and advocacy for the Warrumbungle community,” Mr Mason said. 

Mayor Rindfleish was first elected Mayor in 2024 and has represented Warrumbungle Shire through a range of regional and state forums, including advocating on regional infrastructure, housing, transport and local government matters. 

Warrumbungle Shire Council thanks all Councillors for their ongoing commitment and service to the community.
