Discover Springtime in the Warrumbungle Region
Published on 05 September 2025
Warrumbungle Shire Council is inviting residents, visitors, and nature lovers to discover the magic of spring in the Warrumbungle Region, when the landscape bursts into colour and the calendar fills with festivals, community events, and outdoor adventures.
With wildflowers in bloom, crisp mornings, and mild sunny days, this is the season to explore our towns, national parks, and attractions before the summer heat arrives.
“Spring in the Warrumbungle Region is truly one of the most special times of the year,” Warrumbungle Shire Council Mayor, Kathryn Rindfleish explained. “The days are mild, the mornings are crisp, and the flowers are in full bloom. It’s the perfect weather for bushwalks, picnics, and exploring our national parks and towns before the summer heat sets in. Whether you’re enjoying the stunning wildflowers, stargazing in the clear skies of the Warrumbungles, or joining a local event in one of our towns, spring is truly one of the best times to visit”
A Season of Colour and Adventure
Wildflowers in bloom – Warrumbungle National Park glows with golden wattles, Coolah Tops comes alive with pink darling peas and silver wattles, and native blooms carpet the Pilliga.
Outdoor adventure – Perfect conditions for bushwalking and birdwatching in the Pilliga, mountain biking in Coolah Tops, and camping under the stars in the Warrumbungles, Australia’s first Dark Sky Park.
Festivals and events – Warrumbungle Bloomfest, the Pilliga Ultra, Siding Spring Observatory Open Day, Science in the Pub, and other local events bring our towns to life.
Scenic beauty – Take a weekend drive through scenic country roads to discover striking silo art and murals, browse local shops and cafés, and enjoy streets and parks adorned with spring blossoms.
Spring offers the perfect balance, not too hot and not too cold, making it ideal for picnics, scenic drives, bushwalks, and camping. Wildflowers peak in mid to late spring, while community events provide the perfect excuse to visit towns across the Shire and experience authentic country hospitality. Pack for the season with layers for cooler mornings and warmer days, and don’t forget your camera.
