Community Grants Supporting Local Projects
Published on 02 July 2026
Council has awarded $10,500 to 21 local community groups, organisations and individuals through Round 2 of the 2025/2026 Community Financial Assistance Grants Program, supporting projects and initiatives that strengthen communities across the Warrumbungle Shire.
The funding was approved at Council's Ordinary Meeting on 21 May 2026 and will support a diverse range of projects across the Warrumbungle Shire, including mental health initiatives, aviation education, Aboriginal cultural events, sporting clubs, community facilities, heritage projects, aged care programs and local events.
Warrumbungle Shire Council Mayor, Councillor Kathryn Rindfleish said the Community Financial Assistance Grants Program plays an important role in supporting the volunteers, organisations and community groups that make the Warrumbungle Shire a vibrant place to live.
"It's always inspiring to see the commitment of the people behind our local community groups and organisations," Cr Rindfleish said.
"They work hard to create services, activities and events that bring our community together and help make it a better place to live. Council is proud to support their efforts through the Community Financial Assistance Grants Program and help these great ideas become a reality."
Following the announcement of the successful recipients, Cr Rindfleish visited several organisations on Thursday 18 June 2026 to meet with grant recipients, hear about their projects and see firsthand the positive impact the Community Financial Assistance Grants Program is having across the Warrumbungle Shire.
During the visits, Cr Rindfleish was given a demonstration of the Coonabarabran High School Flight Simulator, which is being upgraded to support aviation education and training opportunities for students and the wider community. At Maaruma-Li Aboriginal Medical Service, she toured the clinic, met the new resident doctor and staff, and learned more about the important healthcare services provided to the local community.
Cr Rindfleish also visited the Royal Hotel Coonabarabran to hear about the upcoming Connection Through Community event, which will bring together local organisations, support services and community members for a day of connection, information and practical support. She also met with representatives from the Coonabarabran Local Aboriginal Land Council, whose grant supported the National Sorry Day Commemoration held in Coonabarabran on 26 May 2026.
Council congratulates all successful recipients and thanks the volunteers and organisations whose dedication continues to strengthen communities across the Warrumbungle Shire.
