Community Engagement Underway for Dunedoo Independent Living Project

Community engagement for the Dunedoo Independent Living Project Stage 1 Concept Masterplan is well underway, with around 30 community members attending a recent drop-in session at the Old Bank Building in Dunedoo.

Also present at the session were Warrumbungle Shire Council staff, Architects NBRS (online), EnergyCo representatives and Warrumbungle Shire Council Mayor Councillor Kathryn Rindfleish, providing community members with an opportunity to ask questions and discuss the proposed project.

Warrumbungle Shire Council is currently inviting community feedback on the Dunedoo Independent Living Project Stage 1 Concept Masterplan, which aims to provide modern independent living accommodation to support older residents and help people remain living within their local community.

The proposed development will be located on the former Dunedoo Hospital site on Sullivan Street, Dunedoo.

Proposed Stage 1 works include:

• Construction of two-bedroom independent living units
• Construction of a turning lane off the Golden Highway (Sullivan Street) into the site
• Construction of a connecting footpath into the Dunedoo CBD

The project has a construction budget of $6.6 million and is funded through a combination of State and Federal Government grants.

NSW Public Works is undertaking the planning for the site alongside Warrumbungle Shire Council staff.

Community members are encouraged to review the concept plans and provide feedback on key elements of the project, including the site layout and unit composition.

Feedback received during the community engagement period will help inform the next stage of planning and development for the project.
