The Perfect Time to Get Out and Explore

With cooler days settling across the Warrumbungle region, it’s the perfect time to get outdoors and explore.

Whether you’re planning a visit or simply looking for a reason to get out and enjoy your own backyard, there’s plenty to experience across the region this season.

Located in Central NSW, Warrumbungle Shire offers a unique mix of natural beauty, wide open spaces, and welcoming country towns, including Coonabarabran, Baradine, Binnaway, Coolah, Dunedoo, and Mendooran, each with its own local charm.

Home to Warrumbungle National Park, Coolah Tops National Park, and Pilliga National Park, the region is known for its scenic landscapes, outdoor adventures, and internationally recognised dark skies. With the Siding Spring Observatory nearby, the area is proudly known as the Astronomy Capital of Australia.

Warrumbungle Shire Council Mayor, Councillor Kathryn Rindfleish, said autumn is one of the best times of year to experience the region.

“Autumn is a great time to be out and about in our region, with sunny, warm days and those crisp, cool evenings,” Cr Rindfleish said.

“It’s the perfect time to explore, whether that’s heading out into our national parks, enjoying the outdoors, or spending time in our local towns and communities.”

From bushwalking and camping to scenic drives, local events, and relaxed days spent exploring country towns, there are plenty of ways to experience the region throughout autumn.

The milder weather also makes it an ideal time to get outdoors, discover local businesses, and enjoy everything the region has to offer at a slower pace.

Visitors are encouraged to plan ahead and discover what’s on offer across the region this autumn.

Residents are also encouraged to take the opportunity to explore their own backyard and support local businesses.

Visitors camping outdoors are reminded to follow all NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service and NSW Rural Fire Service regulations when using campfires, including permitted fire types and conditions depending on location.
