Every Saturday morning at 8am, the Sky River Path comes alive with people from across the community coming together for Sky River Path parkrun, a free, friendly 5km event set in the heart of Coonabarabran. Some participants walk, others jog or run, and many volunteer or cheer from the sidelines, but everyone is welcome and encouraged to take part in their own way.
parkrun isn’t about racing or finishing times. It’s about getting outdoors, moving at your own pace, and enjoying the company of others in a relaxed and supportive environment.
While the event is completely free, participants need to register with parkrun before attending for the first time. Registration only needs to be done once. On the day, don’t forget to bring a scannable barcode so your finish time can be recorded.
After the event, many participants head off together for a coffee at one of the local cafés, making parkrun just as much about connection and conversation as it is about exercise. New faces are always welcome, whether it’s your first parkrun or your fiftieth.
