Warrumbungle Shire Council will be undertaking construction works to replace the existing water main in Namoi Street between Dalgarno Street and Eden Street, Coonabarabran.

The project involves replacing the existing cast iron water main, which has reached the end of its service life. The new water main will help improve water quality and reliability for customers in the area.

When will the work take place?

Works are expected to commence in late January 2025 and will be carried out over a construction period of approximately 2 months.

Construction will not occur every day and will be undertaken intermittently throughout the project period. Works will be primarily delivered by Council staff.

How will the work affect you?

  • There will be periods of construction activity, including noise from machinery.
  • On 2 days during construction hours, access to driveways on the eastern side of Namoi Street will be temporarily unavailable.
  • Affected residents will be notified at least 3 days prior to any driveway closures.
  • Council will need to cut and excavate through concrete driveways on the eastern side of Namoi Street. Driveways will be temporarily backfilled with road base and fully reinstated at the completion of the project.
  • Council staff may need to enter private property during the works to access water meters.

Water supply interruptions

Any customers directly affected by water supply interruptions will be notified at least 1 week prior to the shut-off via door knock and letterbox drop, advising the date and time of the interruption.
