Celebrating the People Behind Council

Warrumbungle Shire Council is joining councils across New South Wales to celebrate Local Government Week 2026, taking place from Monday 3 August to Sunday 9 August. Local Government Week is an opportunity to recognise the many services councils provide, celebrate the people who deliver them, and highlight the important role local government plays in creating strong, connected communities.

Proudly run by local people, for local people, Council provides a wide range of services that support everyday life across the Warrumbungle Shire. While many people think of councils in terms of roads, rates and rubbish, the work of local government extends far beyond that, with dedicated staff working every day to support residents, businesses and visitors.

From caring for older residents and educating children to maintaining roads, parks and playgrounds, managing water and sewer services, operating libraries, swimming pools and Visitor Information Centres, planning for the future and supporting local businesses, Council's work touches almost every aspect of daily life, often in ways many people don't realise."

Warrumbungle Shire Council Mayor, Councillor Kathryn Rindfleish, said Local Government Week was an opportunity to recognise the many services Council provides and the people behind them.

"Behind every Council service is a dedicated team of people who care about their communities and are committed to making the Warrumbungle Shire a great place to live, work and visit," Cr Rindfleish said.

"Every day they're helping deliver services that many people rely on. Whether it's maintaining our roads and parks, caring for older residents, educating children, protecting our environment or planning for the future, every role plays an important part in supporting our communities," Cr Rindfleish said.

"Warrumbungle Shire Council employs more than 220 people across 29 Council-operated locations, with staff working in a wide range of professions, all with a shared commitment to serving our community," Cr Rindfleish said.

"Local Government Week is a chance to celebrate the people who keep our communities running, learn more about the many services Council provides, and perhaps even discover a rewarding career in local government," Cr Rindfleish said.
