A new community garden is set to grow in Coonabarabran following the signing of a lease between Warrumbungle Shire Council and the Coonabarabran Community Garden group.

The lease will enable the establishment of a community garden at 24–26 Robertson Street, creating a dedicated space for the community to connect, grow produce and share gardening knowledge.

The project has been more than three years in the making and has been driven by a committed group of local volunteers.

With support from the 2357 Development Group, the Coonabarabran Community Garden group has established a committee, registered as an incorporated entity, and drafted a management plan for the future community garden.

The group has also held regular monthly gatherings in Neilson Park, where local backyard producers have traded produce and seedlings while raising funds to support the project.

Warrumbungle Shire Council looks forward to seeing the community garden continue to flourish and provide a valuable community space for years to come.
