Commonwealth Home Support Program

We’re pleased to share that the Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP) will continue as a standalone program, with funding extended for two more years to 30 June 2029.

Minister for Aged Care and Seniors Sam Rae and Minister for Health, Disability and Ageing Mark Butler announced the extension on 20 August 2026, providing greater certainty for CHSP clients and service providers.

CHSP provides a vital entry point to aged care for many older people across the Warrumbungle Shire, helping them remain living independently in their own homes and connected to their communities.

Through Warrumbungle Community Care, CHSP supports the delivery of services including meals, transport, social support and home maintenance.

The two-year extension gives Warrumbungle Community Care greater security to continue delivering these important services to our community.

What does this mean for CHSP clients?

  • No changes to your services - your current support continues as normal
  • No mergerplans to fold CHSP into Support at Home have been shelved, so the program you know keeps running as is
  • Contracts stay in place – our existing arrangements as your provider continue uninterrupted through to 2029
