Warrumbungle Shire Council is inviting community feedback on the Draft Masterplan and Cost Estimate Summary for the Coonabarabran Swimming Pool, now on public exhibition for 28 days. Submissions will remain open for a minimum of 42 days.
The documents outline a proposed vision for a future upgrade of the Coonabarabran Swimming Pool. While funding for construction has not yet been secured, once the Masterplan is adopted, the project will be considered shovel ready meaning Council will be in a strong position to apply for grants and external funding for redevelopment works.
At its meeting on 17 July 2025, Council resolved to place the draft documents on public exhibition to give the community an opportunity to view the proposed plans and provide feedback.
“This project reflects the strong local vision for an inclusive and modern public pool that serves our whole community,” said Warrumbungle Shire Council Mayor, Councillor Kathryn Rindfleish. “We encourage everyone to take a look at the plan and share their thoughts.”
Council received funding through the NSW Government’s Resources for Regions Round 9 program to undertake the Masterplan, detailed design, and construction planning for the site. The plan has been shaped by site investigations, stakeholder engagement, and community consultation including input from the Coonabarabran Swimming Pool Advisory Committee and a recent community survey.
The Advisory Committee identified the following key priorities:
- Construction of an eight-lane 25-metre pool with universal access ramp
- Construction of a toddler pool and splash pad, featuring a tipping bucket, jets, and sprayers
- Construction of new, universally designed amenities with family-friendly changerooms
To help the community better understand the proposal, Council will host two community drop-in sessions at the Coonabarabran Swimming Pool:
- Saturday, 9 August 2025, from 9:30 am to 10:30 am
- Wednesday, 13 August 2025, from 3:30 pm to 4:30 pm
Council staff will be available at both sessions with copies of the Draft Masterplan to answer questions, and walk residents through the proposed changes on site.
The Draft Coonabarabran Swimming Pool Masterplan and Cost Estimate Summary can be viewed on Council’s website under the Have Your Say tab, where community members can also submit their feedback using the online form.
Hardcopies of the Draft Coonabarabran Swimming Pool Masterplan are available at the Administrative Buildings in Coonabarabran and Coolah.
Written submissions must be received by 4:30 pm on Monday, 1 September 2025.
