Local young people enjoyed a fun and creative afternoon at the Coona Drop-In this week, with a range of activities designed to encourage social connection, creativity and recreation.

Held at the Coonabarabran Sport and Recreation Centre, the session began with warm toasted sandwiches, giving participants the opportunity to relax and connect with friends in a welcoming environment.

Young people then took part in a geometric painting activity, exploring their creativity and producing a range of unique artworks. The afternoon also included a variety of recreational activities such as pool, table tennis, indoor basketball, card games and board games, ensuring there was something for everyone to enjoy.

The Coona Drop-In is a Warrumbungle Shire Council program delivered through Community and Youth Services. The program provides local young people with a safe and welcoming space to connect, participate in activities and build positive social connections.

Open every Tuesday from 3:00pm to 6:00pm, the Coona Drop-In welcomes all young people aged 11 years and over. The program offers a supervised environment where participants can socialise with peers, develop new friendships and enjoy a range of positive recreational opportunities.

Community members are encouraged to spread the word and support local youth by encouraging attendance at the Drop-In sessions. New participants are always welcome to come along, join in the activities and experience what the Coona Drop-In has to offer.

The Coona Drop-In is funded by the NSW Department of Communities and Justice through the Community and Family Support (CAFS) Program.
