Warrumbungle Shire Council is seeking community feedback on a proposal to extend the 50 km/h speed limit zone on the northern approach to Coonabarabran.
Council is responding to community requests to improve road safety by extending the existing 50 km/h speed zone to the northern side of Horseley Street.
The proposed extension aims to:
- reduce travel speeds for vehicles entering and leaving Coonabarabran
- improve road safety for residents
- improve safety for motorists turning into and out of Horseley Street.
While Council can seek community feedback and make recommendations, Transport for NSW (TfNSW) is responsible for approving and implementing speed limit changes on public roads.
All feedback received during the exhibition period will be forwarded to TfNSW for consideration as part of its assessment of the proposal.
