As part of Warrumbungle Shire Council’s Operational Plan, Council provides financial assistance grants and donations to local community groups and organisations through the Donations Policy. 

Council’s Donations Policy enables Council, under Section 356 of the Local Government Act (1993), to provide financial support to local community groups and organisations who contribute to the achievement of the aims and objectives of Council’s Community Strategic Plan, the Delivery Program and / or the annual Operational Plan.

Each year, Council offers one donation type, and one grant type, that Community organisations can apply for:

Community Financial Assistance Grants

Community Financial Assistance Grants are offered in two separate rounds each financial year, and community members may apply for up to the value of $500 in cash monetary grants. These grants are advertised each financial year around March and September. 

 NB: Council has budgeted $20,000 for both Round 1 and Round 2 combined per financial year.

Annual Donations

Annual Donations are offered to eligible community members as part of Council's yearly budget. Annual Donations are provided across six (6) categories:

• 50% of the annual General Rate, Water Access Charge and Sewerage Access Charge

• 50% of the annual Water Access Charge and Sewerage Access Charge

• 100% of the annual Waste Collection Charge and Waste Management Charge

• Monetary Grant

• Operator and / or Plant Hire

• Hall and / or Facility and / or Equipment Hire

Annual Donations application submissions open for public submission for one month beginning in January each year. Application submissions are then submitted to the following Ordinary Council meeting for consideration by Council to be included in the following year's budget process. 

Annual Donations 2025-2026 financial year applications closed 14 February 2025.

Annual Donations 2026-2027 financial year applications to be advertised in January 2026.

 

Donations Policy

Warrumbungle Shire Council provides financial assistance or donations to community groups and individuals to encourage their development and growth within the LGA.

The expected outcomes of this policy are as follows:

•  Identification and support for community groups, organisations and individuals that contribute to the social, economic and/or environmental fabric of Warrumbungle Shire.

•  Transparent process of application, assessment and determination of financial assistance.

•  That financial assistance provided by Council complies with requirements of section 356 of the Act.

 

Financial assistance is provided across a broad range of activities and is grouped as follows:

•  Sporting Clubs and Events

•  Charity Groups

•  Religious Properties

•  Education Support

•  Community Service Organisations

  Cultural Groups and Societies

•  Youth Groups and Senior Citizens

•  Individuals

•  Community Hall Committees

Council considers Annual Donations each year together with the Draft Operational Plan and Budget for the following year.

 

Requests for all donations and grants are through a time limited application process advertised to community by Council. These applications can be made on Council's online, or printed, application forms.
