Project Overview
The township of Dunedoo only has one park with playground equipment and skate park, and the installation of shade for these areas of the park will provide a more usable, comfortable and safe facility.
It is proposed to install new shade over the skate park and playground equipment at Milling Park, Dunedoo.
The provision of shade at Milling Park Skate Park and Playground will result in:
• increased number of activities being provided
• increased range of activities being provided
• increased numbers of users
• increased accessibility
• increased comfort when using the facility
• will meet current sun smart standards
• increased utilisation of the facility
The inclusion of shade for both areas will also provide improved safety (sun) and security for people using the facility, as well as the extending the usefulness of the facility.
Council utilised existing community consultations to help inform the selection of projects. These included:
• Community Strategic Plan consultations
• Service Levels consultations
• Feedback from Community Consultation Meetings - April 2019
• Various requests from the general public
Council also conducted the following specific consultations:
Discussions with Dunedoo District Development Group.
• Multiple meetings with Executive Leadership Team and key personnel within Council.
• Meetings with councillors, as elected representatives of local communities, including a planning and prioritising workshop with Senior Staff and other key personnel.

Shade sails have been installed this week at the Skate Park and Playground in Milling Park Dunedoo.
These works are funded under a $60,000 Stronger Country Communities Fund - Round 3 grant.

A purchase order has been issued and supporting poles have been erected awaiting shade cloth to be installed. The expected completion date is 30 June 2021.
