Road Closures for Events

Proposal to Close a Road for a Street Event Application Checklist

The following is a checklist of items that should be addressed by any organisation wanting to use any part of a public road for an event.  

  • A letter that addresses:
  • Event Name and Date
  • Purpose of event
  • Event location
  • Number of people expected to attend the event
  • Roads to be closed and the times they will need to be closed between
  • Description of agenda for the event
  • Class category of event (please refer to RMS Special Events Guidelines)
  • Risks involved and how they will be mitigated (a risk assessment could be submitted instead).
  • Contact details of event coordinator 
  • A Traffic Management Plan created and signed by a qualified person with an appropriate Roads and Maritime Services certification.  Refer to RMS Special Events Guidelines for more information on traffic management of an event. Please contact Council if you’re unsure about this item. 
  • A copy of public liability insurance with a minimum cover of $20,000,000 and Warrumbungle Shire Council should be named as an interested party on the certificate.   

Applications need to be submitted at least THREE months before the event to the Warrumbungle Traffic Advisory Committee.
