Road Closures for Events

Proposal to Close a Road for a Street Event Application Checklist

The following is a checklist of items that should be addressed by any organisation wanting to use any part of a public road for an event.  

  • A letter that addresses:
  • Event Name and Date
  • Purpose of event
  • Event location
  • Number of people expected to attend the event
  • Roads to be closed and the times they will need to be closed between
  • Description of agenda for the event
  • Class category of event (please refer to TfNSW Special Events Guidelines)
  • Risks involved and how they will be mitigated (a risk assessment could be submitted instead).
  • Contact details of event coordinator 
    A Traffic Management Plan (TMP) and Traffic Guidance Scheme (TGS) created and signed by a qualified person with an appropriate SafeWork NSW certification.  Refer to TfNSW Special Events Guidelines for more information on traffic management of an event. Please contact Council if you’re unsure about this item. 
  • A copy of public liability insurance with a minimum cover of $20,000,000. The interests of Warrumbungle Shire Council and Transport for NSW (for Regional and State Roads) are to be noted on the policy.
  • To hold a bicycle road race please refer to Guidelines for Bicycle Road Races on additional requirements.

Applications need to be submitted at least THREE months before the event to the Warrumbungle Traffic Advisory Committee.
