Youth Week 2024
NSW Youth Week is here, celebrating youth empowerment and creativity across the Warrumbungle Local Government Area from 11-21 April 2024. This year’s theme to ‘Express, Empower, Get Loud!”
“Youth Week is a time to celebrate young people and the positive contributions they make to their communities,” said Warrumbungle Shire Council Mayor, Councillor Ambrose Doolan. “This year Warrumbungle Shire Council will be extending Youth Week events to cover the entire School holiday period with both Youth Week events and School Holiday events happening right across the Shire there will be something for everyone.”
There will be a variety of activities and events available for children and young people. Some of the events include Bubble Soccer at Coolah, Dunedoo and Mendooran with Nerf Warz and Zorb Balls in Coonabarabran on Wednesday 24 April 2024. Art Workshops with proud Gamilaraay artist, Jodie Herden will be held in Neilson Park, Coonabarabran.
A free Family Fun Day on Sunday 21 April 2024 at No 1 Oval, Coonabarabran will feature Arrow Tag, Inflatables and a BBQ lunch with a Family Movie Night being held at the Coonabarabran Sport and Recreation Centre on Tuesday 23 April 2024 at 6pm. Mendooran Central School is continuing the long tradition of their Touch Football event with a Staff Vs Students Vs Parents/Community match and BBQ on Friday 3 May 2024 while Coolah Central School’s Student Representative Council are organising a Karaoke Disco with a “Get Loud” theme.
Macquarie Regional Libraries is also hosting school holidays and Youth Week events across the Coolah, Coonabarabran, Baradine and Dunedoo branches with activities such as Hand Weaving, Mandala Magic painting and Mindfulness for Kids. Baradine Library is also hosting a special presentation with history enthusiast, Evelyn Hampton on Thursday 2 May 2024.
“As well as the events planned in the Warrumbungle LGA there will be online activities and competitions available for young people. These can be found on the Youth Week website

,” said Cr Doolan.
“Youth Week is a great opportunity for our community to celebrate young people and provides opportunities to share ideas, attend events, try new activities and have fun,” concluded Cr Doolan.
