Neilson Park Yarning Circle

Yarning Circles are used throughout Australia as a designated area for harmonious, creative and collaborative communication. The aim is to encourage responsible, respectful and honest interactions between participants which build trusting relationships, foster accountability and provide a safe place to be heard and to respond.

Council is proposing to establish a yarning circle within the Coonabarabran community, providing a designated site for these interactions (‘yarns’) to take place.

The proposed site for the yarning circle is adjacent to the Castlereagh River in the eastern section of Neilson Park, Coonabarabran.

The proposed concept consists of a designated circle lined with a sandstone block border, and a fire pit in the centre.

Council is now calling for submissions on the proposal.  Written submissions should be addressed to the General Manager and submitted to PO Box 191, Coonabarabran NSW 2357 or by email to info@warrumbungle.nsw.gov.au.  Submissions must be received by 4.00 pm on Thursday, 22nd August 2019.

For further information please contact Council’s Manager Urban Services, Mr Shane Weatherall on 6849 2000.
