Little Timor Street Plaza, Coonabarabran

The transformation of Little Timor Street, Coonabarabran has entered the next stage with the appointment of contractors to undertake the project.

“Funding was received from the NSW Government’s Streets and Shared Spaces fund to transform Little Timor Street on the western side of John Street, Coonabarabran into a vibrant shared street plaza,” said Warrumbungle Shire Council Mayor, Councillor Ambrose Doolan. “This unique space will be a wonderful open place for community members and visitors to enjoy, enhancing their experience in Coonabarabran.”

“To transform this laneway into a safe and vibrant shared space the road will be closed to through traffic, however the road surface will not be disturbed.”

“A deck structure will be constructed over the road surface and on the western end of Little Timor Street with synthetic grass laid to create a relaxed setting. A stage on the western end will encourage outdoor performances. The outdoor setting will be complemented by tables and seating, two shelters, railing and a wall mural,” Cr Doolan explained.

“The Coonabarabran Town Beautification Committee has given advice on the project to design a space that will create a public outdoor place for people to enjoy, while enhancing the individuals experience of shopping, dining or working in the Coonabarabran CBD,” said Cr Doolan.

“It will be incredible to see the transformation of this laneway and I am excited to see the community using and interacting with the special space,” Cr Doolan concluded.
