Event Calendar

There are a variety of unique events held in the Warrumbungle Region throughout the year. From celebrating the region's love of astronomy to hosting concerts in some of Australia's most stunning scenery, you will find everything from 150 year old horse events to Easter celebrations. The Warrumbungle Region really has an event for everyone. If you have a community event for the Warrumbungle Region and want to advertise it for free on our Calendar of Events just send the details through the Submit Your Event form. Meanwhile a second stage provides non-stop professional country music and bush poetry entertainment from Friday afternoon and all day Saturday and Sunday. ​Campers are encouraged to come early to get a good camping spot. The gates open eleven days prior to the start of the festival, fees applies, no EFTPOS facilities available. This gives campers the chance the extend their stay in the peace and tranquility of Hartwood. Hartwood has been called the people’s festival – pets and children attend for free. Hundreds of caravans, motorhomes, camper trailers, and a sprinkling of tents gather here for the week to enjoy the great country music entertainment, a laid back camping experience, and a special camaraderie with their fellow country music fans.

In our story we meet a little Fish whose lagoon is drying up. All the other fish have left, and she wants to learn how to fly so she can see them again. Her friend, a hermit crab named Karramoko, sits by a stormwater drain and tells her it will never happen. She meets a Kingfisher who helps her and encourages her to keep trying. It’s not until she meets a Cormorant, who offers to take her up into the sky that she flies for the first time. But will she make it back okay? The tale is set in a mangrove swamp, and is about friendship, resilience and sustainability. Suitable for children aged 3-8 years but enjoyable for adults too.
