438_352674_06Nov2018140923_Country Exhibit Barb Scott.jpg COUNTRY - A PHOTOGRAPHIC ART EXHIBITION 1/01/2019 4/01/2019 COONABARABRAN VISITOR CENTRE - WARRUMBUNGLE ARTSPACE aileen.bell@warrumbungle.nsw.gov.au 02 6849 2000 www.warrumbungleregion.com.au Barbara Scott has pursued photography as a hobby and says one of her her main influences has been Ken Duncan who spoke to her about the things that are "hard" to do. She enjoys creating images that make her heart sign - hoping to make the viewer's sing too. She grew up in Gilgandra and returned forty years later. She now sees the beauty of the area through fresh eyes and is sharing it in her photographic work. This collection of photographs is an expression of the love of country by Barbara. Her hope is that the photos will connect the viewer with something they have seen or better still experienced in the local area. Her work has comparisons. In 2016, the Castlereagh River at sunrise after rain, this year the land in drought; a closer look at sheep and cattle, and the pine trees that blow in Spring; she also visited silos on Warren Road. Beautiful clouds can come up over our town and her work shows some variations of these. Sadly, not all clouds bring rain! Sometimes photographs have a story and one image of an old ute is called "Retired" - the message is if you look after your body when you are young you will be able to enjoy retirement.

Later she obtained a master degree in Photography and image retouch at the Dutch School for Professional Photography. For more than a decade, Irma successfully co-managed her own photo studio as well as photo lab and framing gallery, before concentrating on painting. After moving to Australia, she connected with the vast, stunning landscape and unique wildlife from up close during extensive travels – producing a series of large landscape and 'bird-scape' paintings. Largely self-taught – or taught by inspiration, as she likes to refer to it herself, Irma currently lives on acreage on the western edge of the Warrumbungle National Park. We are delighted to have Irma Regardt exhibiting as our very first guest artist for 2019.

Born and raised in the UK, Anjee originally trained as a photographer at the Gloucestershire College of Art and Design. It was there that her love of vibrant colour became a hallmark of her work and remains an essential ingredient of all her paintings today. It was also the beginning of the real need to create, no matter the medium. After spending several years in the USA, she moved to Hong Kong, where she worked as a freelance editorial photographer, as well as holding exhibitions of her boldly colourful, sharp-edged images. A later move to Sydney bought with it a change to another creative medium - ceramics. Working as a journalist by day, she studied at the East Sydney Technical College (now the National Art School) in the evenings. However, seven years of living in the city finally bought about a "treechange", and it was with this move to the Mudgee area that Anjee became a full-time potter.

My Late grandmother got me into gardening from a very young age and I have always wanted to do something in her memory to continue her love of the garden so I thought the best way would be through my art and that's where Eileen’s Love was born. I have been a Freelance artist since leaving high school and am currently studying to obtain a Diploma of Graphic Design. I have always been heavily influenced by the beauty of nature, its vivid colour palette and the textures found in foliage. I decided I wanted to combine my new found graphic design skills with my painting knowledge to create a new modern take on Foliage and Floral artworks.

A campfire stage, set amongst the trees, presents a combination of professional and 'walk-up' artists and performers every night, from Monday through to Sunday. Meanwhile a second stage provides non-stop professional country music and bush poetry entertainment from Friday afternoon and all day Saturday and Sunday. Campers are encouraged to come early to get a good camping spot. The gates open eleven days prior to the start of the festival on Monday, 30 March 2020. This gives campers the chance the extend their stay in the peace and tranquility of Hartwood. Hartwood has been called the people’s festival – pets and children attend for free. Hundreds of caravans, motorhomes, camper trailers, and a sprinkling of tents gather here for the week to enjoy the great country music entertainment, a laid back camping experience, and a special camaraderie with their fellow country music fans.

Ronda Sharpe is a Wiradjuri environmental artist inspired by her love and concerns for the environment. Ronda’s use of recycled mediums is examining the connections of the past, the present and the future and highlights the contemporary boundaries of consumerism and the throwaway society we currently live in. “I promote awareness of waste in our ecosystem by creating artworks using discarded materials that are considered trash. I have worked on a series of fibre art collections that resembles contemporary Australian Aboriginal forms including functional carrying vessels, baskets, fish traps and the Australia Aboriginal flag. Simultaneously I am pushing the boundaries by incorporating modern and traditional weaving practices with the use of recycled and natural mediums including discarded data cables and electrical wires juxtaposed with the reconfiguring of our current fast-paced throwaway lifestyle and use of high technological tools, that allow us to connect and tell our stories instantly and globally.
