Water Restrictions Lifted Shire Wide

Water restrictions in all towns across the Warrumbungle Shire area will be lifted from Monday 20 April 2020.

“As a result of good rainfall in the catchment areas across the Shire, water supplies have been replenished to a sustainable level”, said Warrumbungle Shire Council Mayor, Councillor Denis Todd. “After seeing the increase in water supply levels, Council decided to lift all restrictions.”

“It has been a long and dry few years for our communities. This will be the first time in three years that no water restrictions have been in place in the Shire area”, said Cr Todd.

“Council appreciates the efforts that residents and businesses have taken to reduce their water usage. While the water restrictions have been removed, the uncertainty around forecast rain means our communities need to remain conscious of the amount of water we are using”, said Cr Todd.

Water sources will continue to be monitored closely and Council will follow the Drought Management Plan for guidance on restrictions and management actions for across the Shire.

“We appreciate your compliance with water restrictions over the past few years and we hope our communities respect this lift of restrictions and continue to use water sustainably”, concluded Cr Todd.
