Water Restrictions Easing

As a result of the recent favorable weather conditions and heading into autumn, water restrictions in Binnaway, Dunedoo and Mendooran will be eased.

"Water restrictions in Binnaway, Dunedoo and Mendooran will be eased to level 1 from Monday 9 March 2020", said Warrumbungle Shire Council Mayor, Councillor Denis Todd. "Council has been monitoring water levels at each of the town supplies on a regular basis. Water restrictions have been revised based on positive changes to water levels in the town supplies."

Residents in Baradine and Coolah have already been on level 1 water restrictions since last year, now Binnaway, Dunedoo and Mendooran will join them. Level 1 restrictions mean that households have a target water consumption of 260 litres per person per day. Watering of lawns and residential gardens is permitted with watering systems, non fixed sprinklers, hand held hoses, microsprays, drip systems and soaker hoses from 6:00pm to 9:00am daily. All watering times for water restrictions will change with the end of daily savings in 1 April 2020.

"The community has been very understanding and has recognised the importance of reducing water consumption and I appreciate residents’ ongoing efforts during these extreme drought conditions to follow the restrictions which are in place", said Cr Todd.

Coonabarabran will remain on Level 4 water restrictions for the time being, meaning that households have a target water consumption of 200 litres per person per day. Watering systems, non fixed sprinklers, hand held hoses are not permitted at any time. Only microsprays, drip systems, soaker hoses, can be used between 6.00pm till 8.00pm on Wednesday and Sunday.

"Council will continue to closely monitor all water supplies across the Shire and follow Council’s Drought Manager Plan depending on weather conditions and residents usage in ongoing months", concluded Cr Todd.
