Yuluwirri Kids/Connect Five – Monkey Room

Funding has been secured to extend funding for the Yuluwirri Kids/Connect Five – Monkey Room to continue operating for the financial year 2022/23.

“Yuluwirri Kids/Connect Five – Monkey Room Coonabarabran was only funded to operate until 30 June 2022, and Council was in consultation with the NSW Department of Education to seek further funding to allow operation for 2022-2023,” said Warrumbungle Shire Council, Mayor Ambrose Doolan. “This is great news for the community that the Monkey Room will now be able to continue operating into 2022-2023, as funding from the NSW Department of Education has been granted.”

“The Yuluwirri Kids/Connect 5 - Monkey Room service was established in 2010 to assist in managing our preschool waiting list at Yuluwirri Kids in Bandulla St, Coonabarabran. The preschool program aims to help the children develop to their fullest potential by providing a stimulating environment with opportunities to investigate and explore their world, develop friendships and relationships while challenge their mind and bodies.”

“Minister for Education and Early Learning Sarah Mitchell has advised that funding has been granted for this service to continue to operate in 2022-2023 and provided further information surrounding new Mobile Preschool Funding Program,” Cr Doolan explained.

“Finally, this is great news for the community and the service. This service has been subject to review over recent years, and it is once again frustrating that funding has only been advised late in the process,” said Cr Doolan.

Targeted Support will be available to help support the early education workforce within the Warrumbungle Local Government Area. The Mobile Preschool Funding program provides funding for the provision of preschool education delivered for the 2 years before school to enrolled mobile preschools in regional and remote NSW, where access to centre-based preschools can be limited.
