Works on Baradine’s Sewer Reticulation System

Major maintenance works on Baradine’s Sewer Reticulation System have now been completed.

“Baradine’s Sewer Reticulation System is very different to other systems throughout the Shire, as it is a vacuum system and not gravity, unlike the systems in Coonabarabran, Coolah and Dunedoo,” said Warrumbungle Shire Council Mayor, Councillor Denis Todd.

The vacuum system connects 3 - 4 houses to a pot, which is then connected to Council’s Sewer Reticulation System. Once this pot reaches a set level the valve is released, discharging the waste into Council’s sewerage system.

“The existing system has been in use for over 20 years so the system was in need of a major refurbishment,” said Cr Todd.

This project has seen 75 of the old pots replaced and refurbished. The remaining 25 did not require refurbishment at this stage, due to works completed in previous years.

“Tenders where call for this project in January 2020. Flovac was awarded the tender and was contracted by Council to complete these works,” said Cr Todd.

“This project was undertaken to ensure the future functionality of the sewer reticulation system at Baradine,” concluded Cr Todd.
